Apr 17, 2018Williams, 78, of Leon, went home to be with the Lord on April 16, 2018, at the Hubbard Hospice House West, South Charleston, following a long illness.She was born December 3, 1939, in Charleston, daughter of the late Jennings D. and Dorothy Toler Backus.She worked at Stone & Thomas and The Diamond. She was a member of the Cottageville Evans Baptist Church, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.She is survived by her husband of 57 years, whom considered her the "Best Wife in the World," Ray Williams; her children, whom looked up to her as the "Best mother in the World," Donny (Traci) Williams of Ripley, Pamela (Harold) Miller of Left Hand, Cathy Cobb Scott and Susan Williams, both of Ripley; brother, David (Vicki) Backus of Tennessee; her grandchildren, Travis Miller, Todd Miller, Robbie Cobb, Jackie Williams and Nicklaus Welling; and her great-grandchildren, Hunter Miller, Jace Miller, Jacob Bower and Lily Cobb.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Backus.Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Friends may call from noon until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
